Remember to visit the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame which is housed near the South Tunnel at Texas Motor Speedway and is open year-round to visitors. The Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame will honor outstanding performers in Texas racing, from NASCAR to the IndyCar Series, pit crews to drag racers. All proceeds from the Hall of Fame will benefit the children at Happy Hill Farm, a residential school for at-risk kids in Granbury Texas, in association with Speedway Children's Charities.

The inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup race was held at Texas Motor Speedway on April 6, 1997. It was won by Jeff Burton. Mark Martin won in the spring of 1998, followed by Terry Labonte in 1999, Dale Earnhardt, Jr, in 2000, Dale Jarrett in 2001, Matt Kenseth in 2002, Ryan Newman in 2003, Elliott Sadler in 2004, Greg Biffle in 2005, Kasey Kahne in 2006, Jeff Burton in 2007, and Carl Edwards in 2008.
A second fall race was added in 2005. The Dickies 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race is held at Texas Motor Speedway and is the eighth race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship! The Dickies 500 is actually 501 miles and consists of 334 laps at the Texas Motor Speedway. Previous winners of this NASCAR Sprint Cup race were: 2005-Carl Edwards, 2006-Tony Stewart, 2007-Jimmie Johnson and in 2008 Carl Edwards.
